What is Columbia Gardeners?

Columbia Gardeners, Inc. is a nonprofit organization providing gardening opportunities to Howard County residents.  We offer garden plots at three locations (Lake Elkhorn, Long Reach, West Side).  Currently, Columbia Gardeners serves nearly 400 gardeners and has plans to expand at both Lake Elkhorn and Long Reach sites in 2010.

Each site offers garden plots that are approximately 20X25 feet, access to these plots by common pathways, centrally located water supplies, common compost bins, wood chips, parking, and a locking entrance gate.  Gardeners are responsible for fencing (except at the new expansion lots at Lake Elkhorn and Long Reach), tilling, planting, watering, and weeding.

We have several social events during the gardening year, April through October.  Gardeners must comply with all rules and regulations and perform 4 hours of site service per plot during the gardening year.  New gardeners are limited to one plot the first year.
